স্পোর্টস রিপোর্টার, উত্তরবঙ্গ প্রতিদিন ::ভারত পাকিস্তান ম্যাচ মানেই টানটান উত্তেজনা। সমর্থক থেকে শুরু করে সাবেক খেলোয়াড়েরাও মেতে ওঠেন কথার লড়াইয়ে। তবে এর মাঝেই এক সমালোচনার জন্ম দিয়ে বসেন সাবেক পাকিস্তান অধিনায়ক ওয়াকার ইউনুস।

খেলার সসময় হিন্দুদের সামনে নামাজ আদায় করায় পাকিস্তান ওপেনার মোহাম্মদ রিজওয়ানকে নিয়ে উচ্ছ্বাস প্রকাশ করে তার বক্তব্যে আঘাত করে নেটিজেনদের মাঝে। অবশেষে তার এই মন্তব্যের জন্য দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেন এই সাবেক পাক অধিনায়ক ও ফাস্ট বোলিং কোচ।

ভারতের বিপক্ষে ম্যাচের পর ওয়াকার বলেছিলেন, ‘রিজওয়ান যা করেছে তা আমার পছন্দ হয়েছে। তিনি হিন্দুদের সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে নামাজ পড়েছেন।’

তার এই বক্তব্য ঝড় তোলে ভারতের হিন্দু সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠদের মাঝে। এবং সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমে ব্যাপক সমালোচনার জন্ম দেয়।

For a person of Waqar Younis’ stature to say that watching Rizwan offering namaz in front of Hindus was very special to him, is one of the most disappointing things I have heard. A lot of us try hard to play such things down and talk up sport and to hear this is terrible.

তবে তার ভুল বুঝতে পেরে ক্ষমা চায় ওয়াকার ইউনুস। তিনি বলেন, ‘আমি হিন্দুদের অনুভূতিতে আঘাত করতে চাই নি। পাকিস্তানের জয়ের পর আমি খুবই উচ্ছ্বাসিত ছিলাম এবং এই উত্তাপে এই কথাগুলো বেরিয়ে আসে। আমি এর জন্য ক্ষমাপ্রার্থী।’
