Schneider Electric has outlined an $85 million manufacturing programme for Mt. Juliet and Smyrna, Tennessee, with 455 additional production jobs planned across the two locations. The announcement combines a new site with an expansion of an existing operation.

Two locations in the Tennessee programme

The state economic development department identifies 355 planned jobs at the new Mt. Juliet facility on Maddox Road in Wilson County and another 100 at Smyrna in Rutherford County. Those figures describe the distribution of the announced workforce increase; they should not be read as a report that recruitment is already complete.

The department expects the company's employment across its Tennessee facilities to exceed 1,900 when the projects are completed. The local investment is intended to strengthen manufacturing capacity for customers using energy management and automation products.

Investment scope and production timetable

The Tennessee work forms part of a wider $140 million U.S. manufacturing investment plan for 2024. The two amounts describe different scopes, so the local allocation should not be added to the national total as a separate programme.

  • Mt. Juliet: a new manufacturing operation, with full operation expected in 2025.
  • Smyrna: improvements to the company's existing manufacturing activities.
  • Across both locations: a planned increase of 455 manufacturing workers.

Manufacturing Dive reported the expansion on 18 March 2024. The schedule remains a forward-looking plan: an announced investment, an operating milestone and a completed production ramp-up are separate events. This notice records the programme as presented at that point.

Products and company contact

The company identifies custom electrical switchgear and medium-voltage distribution products as the output planned for the two sites. In its announcement, it targets initial manufacturing and shipments from Mt. Juliet by mid-2024, ahead of the later full-operation milestone.
