Mitsubishi Electric Power Products plans an approximately US$86 million investment in switchgear production and power electronics in the United States. The programme includes a new factory in Western Pennsylvania and improvements at existing Warrendale facilities.

A new manufacturing site and existing-site upgrades

The planned factory covers approximately 160,000 square feet. Production is intended to begin with vacuum and gas circuit breakers, with a subsequent emphasis on vacuum circuit breakers. The existing-site programme concerns power electronics and test laboratories. These are announced investment plans, rather than a declaration that the new factory has already reached full operation.

Scope of the programme

  • New switchgear manufacturing space in Western Pennsylvania.
  • Upgrades to existing operations in Warrendale.
  • More than 200 full-time jobs anticipated at full factory capacity.

The employment estimate belongs to the future operating stage. It should be considered alongside the planned site development, rather than treated as a current workforce count. Likewise, floor area describes the physical project; it does not specify the number of circuit breakers that will be delivered in a year.

Separate milestones for customers and partners

The programme joins manufacturing space, product mix and testing infrastructure in one investment announcement. Each part has a different role. A factory provides production space, while testing capability supports assessment of the equipment produced. The announcement should not be read as a substitute for the specifications or acceptance documentation of an individual product.

For a prospective customer, questions about a particular project would still need to identify the product, the intended application and the delivery requirements. A regional investment total cannot determine those terms. The contact channel below provides a route for company enquiries; this communication does not announce a universal delivery deadline or a new price list.

The investment figure reported here concerns the United States programme. Keeping that scope separate from other group projects allows later updates to identify which site and stage they describe. No completed production total or independently measured improvement in customer service is asserted in this announcement.
