Orbic Electronics Manufacturing plans to relocate phone and tablet manufacturing from China to Hauppauge, New York, under Project Patriot. The announced US$30.8 million project involves leasing and renovating a 70,000-square-foot facility on Long Island.

Planned production infrastructure

The proposal includes four surface-mount technology lines and eight assembly lines. Production is anticipated to start in the fourth quarter of 2024, with a target of five million devices annually after relocation. Both the timetable and annual figure are expectations rather than completed operating results.

The project concerns where manufacturing activities will take place. It should not be interpreted as a declaration that the new site's annual target has already been achieved. Nor does a plan to move production establish the delivery date for every device model supplied to customers.
