Damate has opened the second phase of its sheep-breeding centre in Stavropol Territory. The new farm in Predgorny District can accommodate 1,800 animals at a time and forms part of a development programme carried out in stages since 2023.
A second farm within the centre
The centre now includes two farms of that size, together with specialised reproductive facilities and a quarantine area. The company reports total investment of 695 million rubles for the centre project, including the newly opened farm. Rosselkhozbank is the financial partner.
This distinction matters when describing the expansion: the investment figure covers the wider project, while 1,800 places refers to the new farm. The figures should not be presented as though they describe only the same individual asset.
Facilities for housing and herd management
The company's account identifies several elements of the new farm:
- Buildings and sheltered areas for keeping animals.
- A lambing section and an area for sorting sheep.
- Feed storage and equipment supporting herd management.
Damate says breeding animals are being brought to the site. Its announcement records 274 animals already placed there, a figure describing initial stocking rather than the farm's full accommodation capacity.
Breeding objectives and operating targets
The centre is intended to strengthen the domestic breeding base and make genetic material available to private farms. Damate describes breeding within individual breeds as the chosen direction, with distribution through artificial insemination.
The opening establishes that the facilities have entered operation. It does not mean that every annual output target has already been achieved. Accommodation capacity, animals present on a particular date and future breeding output answer different questions and should remain separate when evaluating the project.
Further expansion is described as a possibility. It should therefore be distinguished from the facilities included in this opening and from the investment already reported for the centre.
